Sigur Ros - Heima

Last night i watched this movie and wow, what a trip. I feel so at peace with life. Sigur Ros is a beautiful band with something to give. After their successful tour around the world they came home (heima meaning home) to Iceland and performed free concerts all over. It was so beautiful and a neat cultural experience stepping outside the typical american view of living. It made me reflect on what true success is. It made me see true beauty in this country and the world as well as music, they blend so perfectly together with such peace and power good music can bring. Another thing that stood out to me was the power of community and family, what a gift it is that we never have to be alone. I have a family with unconditional love and a community that gives back what a give. It's almost like magic.

I love bands like this don't get caught up in the money, but are so caught up in their music. Like radiohead; you choose how much you want to pay for their new album. How cool is that?! I was thinking about it and realized there are probably three different types of people. The first who would pay the bare minimum, a dollar maybe because they could? Then there are peole who would pay you know.. the typical price of a normal cd or somthing out of habbit. Then people who would pay more, because they felt it was worth more than any typical cd. Which type are you.. honestly?

With Soooo Many Options

I saw Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium last night. It wasn't my first option but it worked out to be a movie cute and fitting to my needs. Some things i took away from it was: You can't avoid the unavoidable. Mr. Magorium has to leave, and it can't be stopped. I am a wood block and I am very magic when i believe in myself. I am a sparkle of something larger than me. I can do things i don't think i can do when i just do them and stop making excuses. People come into our lives just as we need them. I am not 'just a girl'. That was not 'just a toy-store'. There are so many options and anything is possible. Truly.

I am so lucky to have SOO many options sometimes i get stuck. I have a passion for so many things, but i make up excuses and silly justifications. I would just love to live in New York. I would love to live foreign. I have all these dreams but they're not quite par with my actions. I am a machine that like projects sometimes over people, and myself. Even in this blog I was supposed to express freely has turned into a chore, and i'm holding back. I am going to be more creative Today in my expression. I was also thinking today, what's stopping me? I can do anything right - so why don't I? I think i've escaped the integrity of an empowered person and allowed myself to take life at the passengers seat. Well watch out life, i'm taking the wheel again.

Celebration of Womenhood

This week my room mate, Kaitylyn and I are celebrating womenhood. Yesterday we went shopping and appreciated the opportunity woman have to look beautiful. Along our trip to Salt Lake we stopped by a yard sale where a happiness rock found me.

(pic)
we examed beautiful architecture of downtown Salt Lake
we went to our favorite stores at the gateway and i got;

a dress and
a charm bracelet

an Urban Outfitters opened up in Utah- much excitment!
We had Cheese Cake and Non-Alcoholic Bubbly to topped it off.

We've also been celebrating by finding inspiring books at the D.I. and gave each other inspiring advice about life.
I got Kaitlyn a trophy because she is woman! We involved our other room mates and we all celebrate our womanhood.
It's been a fun week and empowering because as woman we give birth to smaller things. Sometime we forget, or at least i do, about what it means to be a woman.

the Festival of Lights

I celebrated Diwali at the Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork this saturday night. This is also known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali- “Deepawali” (Deepa=lamps, Wali=row: rows of lamps). This is to bring in the best for the upcoming year. We each took a candle and placed them in sand to make unselfish wishes for ourselves and the world. Mine was content and peace for all.

This event takes place between fall harvests and the new year and is a time for thanksgiving with no less than 108 preparations for the feast. There was much dancing and eating and worship of cows.
